                                               Eagle Viewing
At Twin Knobs Campground, January 23, 2010
                                               11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Hosted by the Eastern Kentucky Bird Club, KY Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Daniel Boone National Forest,
      and Recreation Resource Management

11:00am-1:00pm  Eagle Viewing at Twin Knobs Campground - Come view the American Bald Eagle nest on Cave Run Lake, and hopefully see an eagle.  Meet us at Shallow Flats Wildlife viewing area on KY 801 and follow guides to view the eagle nest from J-loop site 23.  There will be a short walk to the viewing area.  We will then go to the beach to check out the action there.  We will have spotting scopes set up so you can get a look at any nesting activity.  Biologist will be at site to answer your questions and help you get a good look at the nest.  If you miss the guide the gate will be unlocked and you can meet the group on your own.  There will be no charge to enter Twin Knobs Campground during this time period.  If you want to stay longer, you will need to purchase a recreation pass, park at Alfrey Boat Ramp and hike in.

You will need warm clothing, including hat, gloves and comfortable shoes.  Binoculars recommended, but not required.

If anyone had an interest and wanted to do additional hiking besides just the "Eagle Viewing", there are numerous trails in the area of manageable distances that could be combined with this activity.  If you would like to make it a two day event, you are more than welcome to stay at my cabin on Saturday night with a moderate hike scheduled on Sunday.
I will need your RSVP so I can plan an itinerary.
I am doing the "Eagle View" regardless of whether anyone shows an interest or not.
The long range weather forecast looks to be in the mid 40's for the weekend.

If you would like to Join Claudia Hicks
RSVP by Friday  Jan 22nd

BIG HOG HUNT!

I am in the process of putting together another wild boar hunt, in Tennessee. The cost will be $850 per person. This time we are also inviting the husbands, to hunt. The last hunt, that we put together, I had more ladies ask, if their husbands could attend the hunt too.
I admit, my husband is my favorite hunting buddy too.

I have been on several hunts around the country, that are cheaper, but once you pay for air travel, it is not cheaper. And these hogs are the biggest that I have ever seen. The date of the hunt is the weekend of May 22, 2010. Arrive Friday after Noon, hunt Saturday, your processed hog is delivered to the lodge on Sunday morning, after breakfast. The lodge is very nice and clean, two meals per day are provided, breakfast and lunch.
For supper we go into Crossville, TN to celebrate at a nice restaurant.

Processing fee is usually $35 skinned and quartered, or $75 skinned, cut and wrapped. Plus, a 10% gratuity to your personal guide.

Let me know, yes, no, or a definite maybe, sometime in the next couple of weeks. If we can get 12 people to attend this hunt, we will get a $50 discount per person. They also have a rate for non hunting husbands that want to spend the weekend at the lodge, with their spouse, as special price, just for this event only, will be $50.  Bobbi Jo, will do anything to get more women into hunting.

You can also hunt some of the exotic species that Bobbi Jo has on her Tennessee Ranch, at the rate stated on her website.
Check out her website. http://www.caryonah.com

We will have access to the fishing lakes on Caryonah Ranch, should some of the non-hunting husbands, wonder what they will be doing, while their wife is hunting.
