The Kentucky Network of Outdoor Women was a club that evolved out of the Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) workshops program provided by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR). After participating in some of the BOW workshops, several women began expressing a desire to build on that program. They wanted to help other women experience the outdoors not only through the BOW workshops, but to go even further. They wanted the friendships made at the workshops to grow through more outdoor adventures. Those women, Scotty Clenney, Joan Garrison, Linda Saunders, Wanda Clark, and Scarlett Hawthorne, along with the BOW Coordinator , Barbara Pulliam, began KNOW in March of 1997 as the initial Board of Directors.
